Do you actually need an app
Most businesses that ask for an app need a fast mobile website. An app has to be found, downloaded, kept and reopened - four chances to lose someone that a website does not have.
Apps earn their place when people use you repeatedly and habitually, when you need device features like the camera, location or offline access, or when notifications are genuinely central to the service.
If the honest answer is that a mobile site would do, we will say so. It costs less, launches sooner, and shows up in search - which an app never will.
What drives the cost
Whether you need one app or two. A single cross-platform build covers Android and iOS from one codebase and suits most business apps; separate native builds cost roughly double and are worth it for graphics-heavy or hardware-heavy products.
Then: how many screens, whether you need accounts and payments, what has to work offline, and how much of the backend already exists. Backend work is usually the larger half and the part clients underestimate.
Ongoing costs are real and continuous - store fees, server costs, and the OS updates each year that break something if nobody is maintaining it.
Launching on the stores
Apple reviews every submission by a human and rejects for reasons that surprise first-time publishers: thin functionality that should have been a website, missing privacy details, sign-in requirements without a guest path.
Both stores require a privacy policy and an accurate declaration of what data you collect. Getting this wrong delays launch by weeks, and the declaration must match what the app really does.
Publish under your own developer accounts, not ours. Agencies that hold the store account hold your app, and moving it later is painful in a way that is entirely avoidable.
